Our most recent sourcing trip to Hong Kong was definitely one of discovery. New hotel, new places to shop, new places to eat - exactly what you want when you are exploring the streets of Hong Kong.


Our new hotel of choice is The Murray Hotel - Central 

 Located in amongst the lush green surrounds of Hong Kong Park and Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens, yet just a 10-minute stroll from the hustle and bustle of downtown Central, this is our new top pick of where to stay in Hong Kong.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR IN A HOTEL 

  • A good size room with a well-equipped desk area or business centre facilities where we can catch up on our work.
  • A unique experience. A point of difference. The architecture of the Murray is stunning. Originally built in 1969 as government offices with a design considered well ahead of its time, a full renovation to 5* luxury hotel was completed in January 2018. Both exterior and interior design is considered and quite spectacular. 
  • A well-facilitated gym + a pool area to wind down.
  • A reputation for true 5-star service. Staff in a hotel can make or break your stay. The concierge at The Murray was extremely knowledgeable, and thoughtful when it came to all of our requests. Even though the Murray has 5 of their own food outlets, the concierge was still very happy to provide recommendations for outside restaurants nearby.
  • A great breakfast. The breakfast buffet at The Murray was exceptional and one of the best we've experienced in a long time.

DUDDELS (Chinese) 

Whether you’re lounging on the secret garden terrace or pausing for a power lunch in the main dining room, Duddell’s masters the art of hospitality. Head chef Fung Man-Ip is a specialist in traditional Cantonese cuisine and composes his classic dishes with meticulous attention to detail and only the best ingredients. Come for the heartfelt Cantonese dishes, a well-appointed wine list, and an always-evolving art space. 3/F, Shanghai Tang Mansion, 1 Duddell St

LUK YU TEAHOUSE (Chinese)

Dating to the 1930s, Luk Yu Tea House is one of the most historic restaurants in Hong Kong’s Central District. The institution comes dressed up in antique wooden furniture, stained glass windows, white tablecloths and Shanghainese-art deco details. Dim sum is an art at this teahouse with a welcome procession of bamboo baskets containing steamed beef balls and tofu sheets, char siu bao (barbecue pork buns), har gow (shrimp dumplings), and fried prawns on toast. The atmosphere and classic Chinese dishes provide a fascinating peek into old Hong Kong. 24-26 Stanley St, Central


SAMSEN (Thai) 

You’ll most likely hear this busy restaurant before you see it. Built inside an old Chinese shophouse, right by the historic Blue House in Wan Chai, this busy Thai noodle restaurant overflows with hungry diners, keen to try the savoury Bangkok-style noodle dishes. Long lines of diners come for the famous beef boat noodles—which more than make up for the no-reservations policy—and stay for the open-air layout, shabby-cool furniture and social atmosphere. 68 Stone Nullah Ln, Wan Chai

L’Officine Universelle Buly
